Missing Air Crew Reports 1942
306th Bomb Group--Thurleigh, England

Whenever an aircraft went missing in combat, the Group was required to submit a Missing Air Crew Report (MACR) to the War Department within 48 hours of the aircraft officially being reported as missing. Information on these reports include a list of the crew names, where the aircraft was when last seen, weather conditions, and other circumstances regarding the plane and mission. Russell Strong was able to collect copies of the original reports for many of the MACR's for the 306th missing aircraft, and they are included here in the archives. When he could not obtain copies of the actual reports, he researched and was able to develop lists of names and some circumstances regarding the missing aircraft and crew. These typewritten notes are included in the MACR listings under the date when the aircraft was lost. Russell Strong's correspondence and other research material are also included on the 1945 page.
